Top Harmful Foods to Feed Cats
Although it’s tempting to feed your cat table scraps, many experts point to many foods that can cause cat toxicity. Likewise, some foods are far more harmful to cats than others. In fact, you should completely avoid feeding to your cat the following foods:
1. Raw fish
Contrary to popular belief, raw fish is really not good for your cat at all. Actually, raw fish can cause gastrointestinal problems and also the vitamin thiamine, which is essential for good health. In addition, raw fish may cause poisoning due to the bacteria of uncooked meat. Thiamine deficiency can play havoc on the neurological system. 2. Garlic and onions

3. Raw eggs and raw meat
It is never a good idea to feed your cat raw eggs or raw meat. It drastically increases the chance of getting E. coli or salmonella poisoning. In addition, E. coli and salmonella can be spread to humans. Symptoms include diarrhea, tiredness, and vomiting. Raw eggs also have enzymes that may cause fur and skin issues. 4. Chocolate
Chocolate is also harmful to cats and not just dogs. It is the theobromine in chocolate that causes cat toxicity. Unsweetened and dark chocolate have the highest amounts of theobromine. Chocolate also contains methylxanthine. This substance can cause diarrhea, vomiting, irregular heart rhythm, excess thirst, muscle tremors, a high temperature, abdominal pain, and seizures.
5. Grapes and raisins
Grapes and raisins can cause an array of health issues for your pet. Even a small amount can make your cat sick. In fact, some cats quickly develop kidney failure. Symptoms of toxicity after 12 hours of consumption include vomiting and hyperactivity. After 24 hours of consumption, symptoms worsen such as diarrhea, extreme tiredness, abdominal discomfort, decreased appetite, and reduced urination.
6. Alcohol
You should always avoid giving your cat any food or drink that contains alcohol. In truth, alcohol can be very dangerous for your cat to ingest. Symptoms include diarrhea, difficulty breathing, vomiting, confusion, tremors, coma, and even death. Raw dough is also harmful to your cat. This is because the dough continues to rise in your cats stomach and creates alcohol in their system. If at any time you think your pet has consumed any alcohol, take them to a veterinarian immediately.
